Fairness Comparison of TCP Variants over Proactive and Reactive Routing Protocol in MANET

    Get PDF
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are applicable in an infrastructureless environment where the mobile devices act as routers and intermediate nodes are used to transfer segments to their final destination. As Transmission control protocol (TCP) was originated for Internet with fundamentally different properties, faces serious challenges when used in mobile ad hoc networks. TCP functionality degrades, due to special properties of MANET such as route failure because of significant change of network topology and link errors. TCP uses Congestion Control Algorithms; TCP Vegas is one of them which claim to have better throughput comparing with other TCP variants in a wired network. Fairness issues of TCP Variants in MANET including existing routing protocol are still unsolved. To determine the best TCP Variants in MANET environment over renowned routing protocol is the main objective of this paper. A Study on the throughput fairness of TCP Variants namely, Vegas, Reno, New Reno, SACK, FACK, and Cubic are performed via simulation experiment using network simulator (ns-2) over existing routing protocol, named, AODV, AOMDV, DSDV, and DSR. This fairness evaluation of TCP flows arranged a contrast medium for the TCP Variants using stated routing protocol in MANET. However, TCP Vegas obtain unfair throughput in MANET. The simulation results show that TCP Reno outperforms other TCP variants under DSDV routing protocol

Text to Emotion Extraction Using Supervised Machine Learning Techniques

    Get PDF
Proliferation of internet and social media has greatly increased the popularity of text communication. People convey their sentiment and emotion through text which promotes lively communication. Consequently, a tremendous amount of emotional text is generated on different social media and blogs in every moment. This has raised the necessity of automated tool for emotion mining from text. There are various rule based approaches of emotion extraction form text based on emotion intensity lexicon. However, creating emotion intensity lexicon is a time consuming and tedious process. Moreover, there is no hard and fast rule for assigning emotion intensity to words. To solve these difficulties, we propose a machine learning based approach of emotion extraction from text which relies on annotated example rather emotion intensity lexicon. We investigated Multinomial Naïve Bayesian (MNB) Classifier, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) for mining emotion from text. In our setup, SVM outperformed other classifiers with promising accuracy

MEDICAL TEXTILES: SIGNIFICANCE AND FUTURE PROSPECT IN BANGLADESH

    Get PDF
Now-a-days textiles are used in different sectors and various purposesbeyond imagination. Medical sector is one of them. An important andemerging part of the textile industry is medical, hygiene and health sector. The development is taking place due to the simultaneous expansion andimprovement of technology in both textile as well as medical sector. Thenumber of applications is huge and diverse, ranging from a single threadsuture to the complex composite structures for bone replacement and fromthe simple cleaning wipe to advanced barrier fabrics used in OperationTheater. The main object of this work is to study the types of medical textilesused in the medical sector, information on imported items and scope ofmanufacturing these items in Bangladesh. For this work we have visitedDhaka Medical College, Sir Salimullah Medical College, Uttara AdhunikMedical College and Hospital, BMA Bhaban Surgical Market. We havegathered very useful and vast knowledge about the term "Medical Textiles",as per our work and capability

An effective feature extraction method for rice leaf disease classification

    Get PDF
Our society is getting more and more technology dependent day by day. Nevertheless, agriculture is imperative for our survival. Rice is one of the primary food grains. It provides sustenance to almost fifty percent of the world population and promotes huge amount of employments. Hence, proper mitigation of rice plant diseases is of paramount importance. A model to detect three rice leaf diseases, namely bacterial leaf blight, brown spot, and leaf smut is proposed in this paper. Backgrounds of the images are removed by saturation threshold while disease affected areas are segmented using hue threshold. Distinctive features from color, shape, and texture domain are extracted from affected areas. These features can robustly describe local and global statistics of such images. Trying a couple of classification algorithms, extreme gradient boosting decision tree ensemble is incorporated in this model for its superior performance. Our model achieves 86.58% accuracy on rice leaf diseases dataset from UCI, which is higher than previous works on the same dataset. Class-wise accuracy of the model is also consistent among the classes

EFFECT OF SCOURING AND BLEACHING TREATMENT ON KNITTED COTTON FABRICS FOR ECONOMIC STUDY

Cotton is the leading fibre in Textile Industry. Cotton is still the "King" of fibers because most of the world's apparel is made of Cotton. Apart from its fairly good strength, it is considered to provide comfort due to good moisture absorption and wicking properties. It is estimated that approx. 20 million tons of Cotton is processed worldwide yearly. Unlike man made cellulosic fibers such as Rayon and Lyocell, Cotton must be properly prepared for Dyeing, printing and finishing. To prepare the cotton fabric ready for Dyeing, printing and finishing scouring & bleaching is the fundamental step. Scouring of cotton textiles is an essential treatment in textile wet processing in order to obtain a sufficiently hydrophilic fabric. During scouring, waxes and other hydrophobic materials are removed from the cotton fibers. cotton fibres are off-white in color due to having colour bodies with it and the process of destruction these colour bodies from fibres is known as bleaching. The problems involved in normal scouring & bleaching using H2O2 is requirement of higher amount of alkali that will result higher cost in Effluent Treatment Plant to remove the alkalinity, use of wetting agent, sequestering agent, detergent & stabilizer and also require acetic acid to neutral the fabric. The aim of our work is to reduce the amount of alkali that is used in scouring , no use of acetic acid after scouring for neutralization and use of single chemical in place of that is cost effective. To fulfill our aim we use Imerol Blue Liquid in place of wetting agent, sequestering agent, detergent & stabilizer that is supplied by Clairiant and compare the Imerol Blue process with classical scouring & bleaching process using stabilizer

Design and manufacture of a ten ton capacity wedge jack

A Wedge Jack of relatively small dimensions (300 x 100 x 50 mm), but extremely high load carrying capacity (10 tons) has been designed for precision lifting of turbine shaft and its bearing cases for their proper alignment at Ghorasal Power Plant. The work was unique of its kind in Bangladesh, since it was the first venture of installation of a new power plant using local technology and expertise. The Jack was a key inventory item, without which the erection work was not technologically feasible. Its import from abroad or local manufacture using foreign expertise would involve huge cost and delay in the erection. Design of the same by an expert team of B.U.E.T. has solved the above mentioned problem. The designed Wedge Jack consists of an upper plate, a lower plate, two wedges and threaded shaft. Rotation of the shaft in one direction facilitates lifting up of the upper plate along with the given load, while rotation in the opposite direction lowering down of the same. Safety factors in the range from 1.5 to 3.5 for various parts of the Jack have been ensured by the design. For ease of production a few sample pieces of the same were manufactured under the supervision of the designers. The manufactured Wedge Jacks were tested for accuracy and the required load carrying capacity
